Oh The Irish

Brilliant.  That's a word people say here a lot.  They use it in the same context that we would use the word "great" in the states.  "That's a great idea" = Irish Translation = "That's a brilliant idea".  Just another one of the many little differences in this country!

The levels of a building.  In the states we would call the ground level, level 1 and so forth.  Here the ground level is level 0 and so forth.  So I live on the floor above ground level and so here in Ireland it is called the 1st level, even though in the states it would be called the 2nd level.   The little differences. All so interesting.

It's cold here.  And humid.  What a mix.  For those of you that have experienced cold and wet, you know what it's like.  For those of you that haven't, it's kind of miserable.  You know when you go swimming in the winter time and then you have to walk outside in the cold and you're still wet and your hair is wet and you feel so cold, to the bone?  That's what it is like here, all day, every day, all the time!  It's mad.  (Did you catch the use of that Irish word?  Mad.  Instead of crazy.)
