In Ireland they call
“orientation” stuff “induction”. So
today I had my academic induction.
Basically they just confused all of us with ECTS, modules, timetables
and a bunch of other terminology that hardly any of us understood at all. Haha!
It was priceless. The funny thing
too is that everybody says “oh, ask that office if you ever need anything, they
are so helpful” and basically they say that about everybody. But then when you ask for help, they tell you
to go ask somebody else, who then tells you to ask somebody else, and the cycle
continues and basically we’ve all come to the conclusion that really nobody
knows what they are talking about and they just try to pawn off responsibility
on other people by saying “oh, they are so helpful, ask them if you ever need
anything”. It’s priceless. We had quite a joke going on with it today
with all the international students. So
funny! I had lunch with Soes and Jacob today. She is from Denamrk. He is from Sweeden. We found a little café in a mall close to our
school. I got a greek sandwich and it
was amazing! It had feta cheese and sundried
tomatoes and pesto and I literally thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was so very delicious! I loved it so much! Yum.
Yum! Yum. After lunch I had to go back to the school
and register finally. I got my ID card! I’m official!
Yahoo! And then I went to Trinity
College where I got my student leap card, which gives me discounts on the
Dublin Bus. I started talking with this
girl in line behind me. Her name was
Gizzy. Super cool, super nice. She had just gotten off work and was getting
her student leap card also. I had time
to spare and so did she and so we went and walked around the mall
together! It was a blast. She’s a cool girl. We had a great time. She finally had to leave after an hour or so
and I did some more window shopping and then went to institute. As I got on the bus at the city center spire
somebody tapped me on the shoulder. It
was Sarah and another girl! From the YSA group! They were headed to institute also! So I had friends on the bus, which was super
nice and random and unexpected for sure.
It was grand! For institute we
watched the CES devotional. The topic
was about making decisions and not being idle with time. It was a fantastic topic. I loved it.
I got home about 11 pm again,
but my attitude was better about it all and so it wasn’t as bad to get home so
late. Life is grand!
I'm an official DIT Student! Yahoo!
