I'm in a foreign country. And so of course there are many things that are different than my good ol' home country of America. Roundabouts. They have roundabouts here like they are candy or something! They are everywhere. Everywhere. Everywhere. And the impressive part is that they all know how to use them! It's amazing. Every time I get into a car with somebody I am just blown away by their master roundabout skills. Because they are around every single corner! Cool stuff. The other thing I have noticed a lot is the size of things here. Compared to America, Ireland is a much more simple place. Their houses, cars, streets, etc. just aren't as big as Americans are. America has big houses and big cars and big streets and you just don't really see that here. Everything is tiny. Especially their cars and their streets. BUT their buses are huge! Right? So, do you see this little issue? Little cars. Little streets. BIG buses. Yea. So the other day I was on the bus and I could have stuck my pinky out the window and TOUCHED another bus that had pulled up right beside us. It's kind of frightening and my heart tends to do a little skip and beat and JUMP whenever it happens. Which is often I'll have you know. Very often. But I haven't got in an accident yet on the bus. These people are just beyond skilled. It's impressive! Haha! Well, that's some random facts for you that this American girl noticed in this grand ol' foreign country. Oh! Another random thing. The keyboard in the library at my school has the @ sign in a totally random place and all day today I have been pressing the wrong key! It's quite comical trying to retrain my brain to press the right button on the keyboard. LLLOOOVVEEE it! And I love all of you.
Did you notice that there are two random keys on the keyboard? They are right next to each other and on an American keyboard, you would have to use the shift 3 key to produce the # (hashtag/number/pound sign) and the tilde (the symbol directly above the # on the same key) is not used in American language, so we have to know a special magic formula (which I don't happen to know) for it to show on our screen. And, as for the apostrophe and the @ sign -- well, I wonder where the quotes sign is? On the American keyboard, the " and the ' are on the same key. I never even thought that the keyboards would be different. Good thing you brought your American computer to help you.
ReplyDeleteOh, and the roundabouts -- well, I don't know if you have ever heard me say it, but, I know I have said again and again -- American's don't know how to use roundabouts. But, the Irish and the English and the Europeans are experts! Love it!!
